This installation of 13 light boxes revives my grandmother’s wartime stories—tales of survival from her village during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, told under the glow of a gas lamp (‘the gola’) during nightly power outages. While her narratives illuminated resilience, the shared trauma of our region remains erased in national memories on both sides of the border. The work materializes this paradox: intimate light preserving what history has tried to extinguish.
